About Royal Guadalmina Golf Club

Short history about Royal Guadalmina Golf Club

Back in 1933 Norberto Goizueta discovered Guadalmina, from his boat “Serva La bari “ and with his family. Initially Guadalmina was an agricultural land, and later in the following years, Norberto and his sons changed the corn and peat, for a completely new variety of grass.

In 1959 after the completion of Guadalmina Sur , Farmers from the Colony of San Pedro Alcántara , from time to time asked him whether if he was crazy, because they said…Don Norberto if you seed, fertilize and irrigate , and when is about to grow you mow the grass, when are you going to get something out of these fields? , and this pioneer from Navarra said…. It takes a lot of time to harvest a golf course.

This is the story of a Family and a Golf Club, in 1965 Guadalmina hosted the Spanish Championship, and later in the history of the Club many other important tournaments were hosted in Guadalmina, like European Tour Qualifying School in 1995 and 1996, or the Spanish PGA Championship in 1998.

In 1973 , the second Course was built under the supervision of Mr. Folco Nardi, and the par 3 course in 1989 made the actual configuration of Guadalmina Golf.
